So I just wrote a great entry because I haven't written anything in so long, and then I realized why I stopped updating regularly: I hate livejournal. I haven't really updated in a while. I spent this weekend at home. I hadn't seen my family or friends (jenna) since August, and I was getting quite homesick. I had a good time with Jenna even though we just bummed around her house while the boys watched Predator. I miss her. A lot. I'm excited for her baby (I'm going to be its God-Mother!). The main reason I went home was for my Grandmas surprise 70th birthday bash. It was nice to see the family and eat lots of pizza. Troy and I played some pool. We suck a lot. I ate like a pound of Dominic's Halloween candy. Speaking of Halloween... I was a bear, and I was awesome... Awesomely Drunk! Troy and I celebrated Halloween on the 29th by getting wasted at the newly renovated 231 Art Gallery. Way better than last year (no dumb ass high school kids). Before that I took him out to dinner for his birthday. He's 24 now... old man. Other than that... I work a lot. School is kicking my ass right now. (damn term papers and midterms). I think I might go to Japan next fall. I quit my job at the Marketplace and let me tell ya, I do not miss it. (I do miss the omelets, though.) Troy and I are doing well, I suppose. an update... sort of.
Meh! I'm super tired but my attempt to nap was unsuccessful. Now I have to go to work. It smells like paint in here and it's making me queasy. I work with Sarah tonight and she is so lame. My parents are in Mexico and I am jealous and I miss them. I had no classes today and that made me happy but my lack of nap made me crabby again. I hope I make some sweet moolah in tips tonight. I think that might cheer me up. My computer just beeped for no reason. I want my old computer back, this one has been too much trouble. Mine is as follows: Sunday: 1PM-6PM (B) Monday: OFF Tuesday: 7AM-11AM Wednesday: OFF Thursday: 7AM-12PM Friday: 10AM-2PM Saturday: 12PM-5PM (B) I think I want to get rid of my Sunday shift and change my Saturday shift to 12PM-4PM so I can work at the Northwoods in the evenings. We'll see how this "working two jobs and going to school" thing works out. If it gets to be too overwhelming, or if I need more time for school, then I'll probably quit the Marketplace. (P.S. I'm glad we're friends again! :) ) Anywho, it's about time I really updated this thing , but I don't feel like it right now. Perhaps later this evening. How 'bout an update?!
So my mom had her surgery. Everything went well and she is recovering nicely. They used staples to close the incision in her stomach, so now it looks like a big zipper. It's pretty gross. And huge. It goes from her belly button to right in between her boobs. It was nice visiting home last week. I brought my mom a latch-hook to give her something to do while she's laid up. I drove her to the doctor on Thursday and at that point she had already lost eight pounds. The next time I see her she'll probably be anywhere from 30-50 pounds lighter. Hooray for shmom! While I was home, Troy and I went to see the Aquabats and it was totally fun. We kinda got a little lost in Detroit a couple times, but it was cool. I bought some space goggles from the Phenomenauts at the show. *Note to Jenna: You would love the Epoxies. Check them out if you haven't already. The singer totally has some awesome moves we need to learn* So my dogs kidney failure? Cancer. My parents can't afford to give her chemo treatments, so they are going to keep her on meds. She supposedly has another good 2 years left in her, but we'll see. She is barely eating and is peeing all over the place. She just turned 2 on valentines day. On a happier note: I had an awesome Fourth of July. Katie, Erin, Andy, Jen, Tim, Troy, and me all went down to lower harbor and set up shop. Then Troy and I went off to enjoy FOOD FEST. It was a fun time, even though we could only afford some hot dogs that night. Then we watched the fireworks. They were setting them off from 2 places: the break wall and from inside of the old ore dock. From where we were sitting we had a pretty good view of both. It was a good time. I <3 Independence Day. BAD NEWS: I have a tail light out! Sad for me. I bought the bulb, but for the life of me I could not the thing changed. I spent almost half an hour trying, and all I got was a little sunburn on my arms. Troy and I are going to try again tomorrow. Speaking of Troy; I love him. He called me wonderful today for no apparent reason. I love when he does stuff like that. The other night we went over to Todd's place and watched Troll with him and Newman. What a not scary movie. We were too tired to stay and watch Troll 2, but I totally want to see it. I remember being scared by it as a kid. MORE NEWS: They started working on our roof yesterday, and after that is done they are going to fix our ceiling. After that the apartment will be absolutely perfect. Today me and Katie had a picnic on Presque Isle. Basically we got sandwiches and drinks from Togo's (mmm... hot pastrami) and ate them on a bench overlooking the lake. Good times. In my opinion, the best thing ever invented is the Slurpee, and I think Marquette needs a 7-11 (the closest one is in Gaylord :( ). I think now I'll tamper with my layout before going to bed. Alyssa's visit
Alyssa is the greatest. I had a blast while she was here. We had a pretty busy two and a half days. Here's a run-down of what we did while she was here, supplemented by pictures.
She got here Monday night around 6:30. Then we went to congress for pizza.

So as you can see, it was an awesome time. And I got some pretty sweet gifts, too.
Completely unrelated: Tomorrow is my moms surgery. I am scared. I wish I was there with her. I hope everything goes well, which I think it will. I talked to her today and she is nervous, but excited. I can't wait to see her healthy and happy again. My dad is going to call everyone after the surgery to give updates and what-not, since my mom will be out of it for a couple days. I'm going home on the sixth to visit, drive her to her doctors appointment that day, shop, and go see the Aquabats with Troy (and Jenna???). I can't wait. | | Monday, June 20th, 2005 | | 10:12 am |

Jump into my spaceship
Yeah, it's been a while since I updated, but not much has been going on. I started work at Michaels and I like it a lot more than the Ramada (go figure). Next week I start my training to become a certified custom framer. Totally rad. Alyssa is coming to visit next week!!!! She will be here Monday night and stay until Thursday morning (I think). I'm excited. I miss her like whoa. I miss my other pals, too, for that matter. We'll probably spend some time at Presque Isle, hike up Sugarloaf, picnic at lower harbor, spend some time at the beach, get a little tipsy, maybe walk around downtown, and just have a good time. Woo! I also want to give her a campus tour. I just got back from campus a little while ago. I was doing Physics lab set-ups. It's a pretty fun way to get some extra cash. Plus I like feeling involved in the Physics program, it's a good time. The other two guys who do lab set-ups with me are bums though, and never reply to my emails. Jerks. Oh well, more hours for me. My puppy is in the hospital because of kidney failure. The doctors think that she was either poisoned somehow or that it is congenital. That makes me sad. If it is congenital she'll probably die. Troy and I started swimming together at the PEIF this week. He is teaching me, and it's kicking my ass. After every swim we go walk a mile on the treadmills. Hooray for spending good quality time with my boyfriend while getting healthy. I <3 him. MY BIRTHDAY IS ON MONDAY!!!! WOO! THE BIG 2-0. I'm way tired, but for some reason I couldn't sleep. So, here I am. Being lame. Meh. I wish I didn't have to work tomorrow morning, then I wouldn't be so anxious to fall asleep (which I'm sure isn't helping the situation.) Speaking of work; I hate my job! Being a housekeeper is lame. Sure, you get tips and all, and the Ramada gives me food, but that doesn't make up for the suckage. No worries, though! I got a new job! Starting June 7th I am a Michaels employee. Woo! That should be about 100 times better than housekeeping. Hooray for selling craft supplies! I will also be doing lab set-ups for Dr. Lucas starting mid-June through August. 2 astronomy and 2 physics lab set-ups and take-downs per week at or just above minimum wage. Should be fun (I'm a nerd), and a little extra cash never hurts. Next weekend is Troy's sister's graduation. Hooray for getting out of town for a couple days. Well, I suppose I'll go back to bed now. |
